Fashion Fix Friday!

About three times a week. Yup that's about right. Three measly times a week is how many times I actually get "ready" for the day. I'm talking about getting ready in the sense that I go to my closet, look at what I have, and attempt to put an outfit together. Most days I am lucky if I can shower, throw on a random shirt & jeans and maybe an accessory or two. The life of this wife is not that glamorous anymore, my friends (well it wasn't all that glamorous before either). However, I do have an unending love for fashion. I am always perusing blogs and looking through the latest Lucky or Elle magazines when I get a chance. I like to think I have a pretty good style formed for myself.

So, when I do get up and get ready, I always think to myself, man I should take a picture of this, to remember this 1/3 times that I got ready this week. Does anyone else feel like that or is it just me? Because, really, how many more times am I going to think to myself..man I look pretty darn decent today?

So, in honor of my second time this week of getting full on "READY," I decided to do an impromptu silly photo shoot (with my sister being the impromptu photog). Laugh if you must, but it just made me feel better to do a couple of fun poses. They are funny, yes. They aren't professional, no. But they are quite the memory to put in my fashion files :) I encourage you to do the same..it is quite fun!

This is how I really am most of the time..a BIG DORK! It's way more fun :)

Have a Fantastic & Spooky Halloween weekend!

A New Twist on an Old Fave...

There are few things I love more in this world than to bake! There must be something about the aroma of the sugar, the warmth coming from the oven, or saying, "Hey! I just made these" that is so satisfying!

One of my most favorite things to make is Rice Krispie Treats. I think I have made these more than anything else. Yes, they are easy...ok they are ridiculously easy. Does that make them any less delicious? Absolutely not. So when I came across this new twist on them from Gimme Some Oven (they have the best desserts!) I just had to give it a try.

For those of you who don't know how to make these already, shame shame (kidding, kidding)! But you've been missing out! After I made these, my husband could not stop eating them (and neither could I for that matter).

Cake Batter Rice Krispie Treats

Ingredients:

  • 3 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 (10 oz.) bag of mini-marshmallows
  • 1/4 cup yellow cake mix
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal
The Wife's 2 sidenotes:
1...The original recipe used sprinkles on top of their treats, but I chose not to because sprinkles are not my cup of tea. If you/or your kiddies like them, they do add a fun touch!
2...I added extra cake batter mix to mine (about 1/2 cup). The first time I made these I couldn't really taste the cake batter...and trust me you WANT to taste it!

Let me know if you try these and what you think!

Makeup Monday

I am dubbing today Makeup Monday! I want to share five of my favorite makeup products that I am currently obsessing over!
Back in the day (ha) I used to work for Bobbi Brown as a makeup artist, and I miss it every day. Of course I love staying home with The Babe all day, but if I get a chance to do someones makeup..I always take it!

I might be a little biased, but Bobbi Brown has the best products!
This Lip Balm is seriously the best in the dry winter months. It is the only thing that curbs my chapped lips (and it is $15 which, since it lasts forEVER, is a pretty good deal)!

The Concealer Kit is a MUST-HAVE if you have under eye dark circles.
It conceals & corrects everything under there! I do not leave my house without this on!!

The cheek color from Stila is a great touch-up product & very goof-proof.
I use it on my lips & cheeks and it comes in a ton of beautiful colors.

I can not say enough good things about this. I use this everyday without fail!
It is good for chapped lips, chapped cheeks, giving your skin a quick glow, dry cuticles...
I could go on and on!

I just discovered this right before I had The Babe, and I am a little reluctant to share it with everyone..I don't want everyone gobbling them up!
It is the best eyeliner..it is called 24/7 for a reason. It seriously stays on all day and wont budge. For a pencil liner, that is pretty hard to come by!

I would love to know some of YOUR favorite makeup products!
Have a fantastic Monday!

P.S. You can find all of these products at Nordstrom.com or Sephora.com

Yarn-Wrapped Letters

I am obsessed with wrapping things in yarn! Everyone seems to be jumping on the yarn-wrapped bandwagon, and I am a-ok with it...it just gives me more inspiration! I actually started making yarn wreaths about a year ago, and I am still in love with them!

They are so much more fun than the normal tacky fake flower wreaths I see everywhere (I'm talking to you, Hobby Lobby)!
Warning: if you are going to attempt to yarn something (yes I used it as a verb), it is going to take some time. Be prepared to sit back and watch a movie or a couple episodes of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. It will definitely take some time. Once you get going, it is so easy, and for me it is very relaxing.

The latest thing I made are the letters L-O-V-E for my family room. I absolutely love the way they turned out. They took me about four hours total, but it was totally worth it!

Here are the easy-peasy steps:

1. Find something you want to wrap. If you want some inspiration, look here or here
2. Grab some yarn (the thicker the yarn is, the quicker it will go). I love to use twine too!
3. Start wrapping! If you are doing letters, start with the tricky parts first, like in the letter "L" I began in the corners first. Cut the string if you need to and either glue or tuck the ends into another strand.

4. Keep going...it doesn't need to be perfect, the imperfections won't really show.
5. Voila! You're done!

The finished product!
Let me know if you attempt this, I would love to see what you have made!!

Hello All!

This is my life. The life of a wife, mama to my sweet boy, crafter, designer, everyday stylist of myself, chef, baker and candlestick maker (ok not really candlestick maker..not yet anyway!)

This blog is mainly an outlet for me so I can craft, create and take pics of what I have made, what I wear, and what I cook. I hope you enjoy it too!
