Life Lately...

Life around here has not been "normal" lately. I wish I could say it's been an easy month, but that would be a total lie. I have so much crazy family stuff going on...I really really wish I could say life has been boring around here. I'd take boring ANY day over all this madness. :)

Here's a little glimpse into what's been happening....
I got super crazy sick last week and threw up & (ahem) the other end too. TMI? Sorry, but this is real life, my friends. Hehe. I ate saltines for 3 days and water and couldn't keep anything down. Bless my hubby for taking care of D or I would've lost my mind!

My Mom's friends made her these awesome "LESA'S LEGION" bracelets to support her going through her radiation treatments. I love that they're neon! Ha! My Mom is tough, but it's not easy watching her go through all the ups and downs of these treatments. I wish I could help her more. She's amazingly strong, my Mom. Love her so dang much!!

I look at D and am so grateful he came into our family's life when he did. He is a little bright light, when there could be so much unhappiness right now. He is a mood lifter, this one.

I ordered that stencil to paint my family room walls (hopefully this weekend, but really who knows!). I looooove it and can't wait to paint!!

Ty and I thought we were hilarious and gave D a super sour blue candy (hence the blue tongue), and he didn't even FLINCH. Ate it like a champ. Showed his Daddy up too (who squirmed like a little girl when he ate it). HA!

I made Cornflake Candy (and posted it on Instagram @jennathewife), and you would've thought I was talking about some crazy thing. You've NEVER had Cornflake Candy?? You're totally missing out. Here is a LINK to the closest recipe I could find. Seriously make some & thank me later. But don't blame me if you eat the whole pan in one sitting. :)

We got to watch Daddy play Baseball last night, and it was so nice to get out in this beautiful weather! All the wives sat and chatted...and the kids were glued to the fence-- watching all their daddies play ball. Cutest thing ever? It's possible.

It's crazy times like these, when I really have to stop and appreciate the little things. I'm being totally serious when I say I looked at my Pink Blossom Tree in my front yard the other day for like 20 minutes. I just sat there & admired it.

Date Nights are my saving grace lately. Just to be out with my hubby & enjoy each other's company. To love up on each other & laugh like we have no cares in the world. Love my man.

My sis is coming in from Texas today, and I'm SO EXCITED to see her!! She graduates college tomorrow and I'm so so so proud of her! It's gonna be a gooooood weekend!!

Pinning Lately...

Oh heeeeeey. Not sure if anyone still reads this ol' blog of mine. I've been obviously a wee bit MIA lately. !

For today, I thought I'd share what I've been pinning lately. I've spent a lot of time on there lately, trying to get ideas for my FAMILY ROOM REDO (which should be done pretty soon - I just need to find a couple chairs, shelves & paint!

I need to find a cute chair that's under $250 (really, I'd like it to just be free :)! It's harder than I thought. Sooooo ---- if y'all have any ideas/sites/places I can go to get cute cheap chairs - I will kiss your faces off!! I need help!

I'm planning on putting some super long shelving in our Family Room. Kinda excited about it!

I'm OB-SESSED with pink lips for summer right now. That Nars color is the best. Getcha some.

Lace shorts & me are like BFF's right now. I need them like a fat kid wants cake. ;) I want them in every color for Spring/Summer.

High Five For Friday

Hey, it's Friday! Yippppppeeee skippy! I'll be working on my Family Room Redo this weekend, hopefully I'll get it DONE!! A girl can dream, right? :)

{ONE} Gotta love surprise packages from sisters. She knows the way to my heart. Candy & yummy smelling things.

{TWO} Does life get any better than chasing ducks? Davis doesn't think so.

{THREE} Well, maybe a Jamba Juice tops chasing ducks. That face proves it.

{FOUR} So....ya...that one time I chopped 7 inches off my hair. And some of you yelled at me on Instagram (@jennathewife). Hehe. It WILL grow back, I promise...but I get it. It's shocking!! I love it though. I especially love it that it doesn't get stuck in my bra when I'm trying to put my shirt on, or get caught in the door, or get all in my hubby's face when we're trying to have a romantical moment. :)

{FIVE} I'll preface this by saying - I may lose a sister after I post this pic. But EVERY time I face time with her, we make crazy faces. We can't help ourselves.

So, high five for Friday, people! Hope you have a wonderful weekend!! Come & link up with Lauren too!

Easter Recap

Oh hey there. Yes, I still blog. Ha. I don't really have a GOOD excuse for the lack of blogging lately...but I do know I've been having lots of fun lately with my family & friends. I think once the beautiful weather hit, I've been having a hard time staying inside! Total case of SPRING FEVER over here....all we want to do is be outside!

So, sorry about the lack in blogging - but I'm not sure how many of you are even still out there reading this, anyway. ;)

Anyhoooooo.....

Our Easter weekend was chock FULL of craziness & fun. I feel like I didn't sit down all weekend. Which is good, in a way, I guess.

{SATURDAY}
We went to Davis' first ever H U G E Easter Egg Hunt at a park by our house. I had NO idea what I (or he) was in for. The last time I went to an Easter Egg Hunt that huge was...well...never. So I think I was more overwhelmed than he was. There was 6 different stations for each age group, so we found his (0-2) and went and stood..just waiting for the chaos. There was probably about 200 kids WITH at least ONE parent in tow. It was packed with people. Ty decided he would brave the madness and take him into the hunt (I was glad he was brave..cause I was a wee bit lot intimidated).

They had just laid out the candy, eggs, cotton candy packages, caramel corn and firemen hats out in a big square. It was a sugar rush waiting to happen. The fire truck sounded its horn and the craziness ensued. I mean, I couldn't even find D & Ty for the first 20 seconds. They got engulfed in easter candy flying, people's butts bending down, kids squealing, and parents pushing other people (I mean, come ON, people..really?!).

After it calmed down a bit, I spotted them and D seemed to be doing pretty good. Ty said at first he was a little intimidated, but then once he told him he COULD PICK UP the candy...he got it. And loved it. I'm not one for giving my kid candy all that much...so he got to eat a Dum-Dum and he was SO THRILLED. Drool everywhere, sticky hands, the whole bit - he loved it.

It was fun & crazy & totally worth it. His faces were priceless. Awww the things you do for your kids that you would never EVER do otherwise.

{SUNDAY}
D got to "hunt" for his Easter Basket, which was always a tradition when I was growing up, and he loved it. Once he saw it, he ran straight for it and started tearing into it. We kept it simple this year (mostly because that's not REALLY what Easter is about)..just a few toys and that was it. He still loved it. That flying carrot thing was $1 and he can't get enough of it. Go figure.

We went to Ty's Family for a yummy yummy brunch (cinnamon rolls, anyone? I might have eaten 3) and D had his VERY own Easter Egg Hunt (no other grandkids yet!). He got spooooooiled, I tell ya. And loved every minute of it. He's gonna have a rude awakening whenever he gets a sibling! EEK! :)

Then we went to my family's for dinner & MORE Easter Egg Hunting! We always have an "adult" one, since there is only one grandkid still. Yup. He's the only one on BOTH sides of our families. We are in for it, I tell ya. That's why I'm thankful my sister is having a BABY in August! He needs a little attention stealing, for SURE.

My Mom was SUPER PROUD of her Peeps Centerpiece - cute, eh?
(I told her that's the only thing Peeps are good for...I am NOT a Peep Fan. Bleck.)
She always has the best spreads!

I don't know why none of us can make normal faces...it's a serious problem. :)
We were missing our other sis & her hubby - who moved to TX - SO MUCH!!!
It just wasn't the same without them. Boo.

My Mom gave D a "What's Easter" book, too. It's always a good reminder what the TRUE meaning of this holiday is about. Not to get all religious, but really. It is.
I am so grateful for this day.
