This past week, I have experienced lots of FIRSTS as a Mama to a 9-month-old!!
{1} D got his first cold/sickness. I am super sad about this one. He has had a cough, runny nose, and watery eyes. He is a trooper though! He is mostly still pretty happy! I just love this kid. If any of you Mama's wanna throw out some first-time-baby-sickness-love to me...I'd be much obliged!
{Happy D with his runny nose and watery eyes}
{2} Baby D decided he wanted to crawl last week (after much nudging from my sister). He was happy & content just scooting around on his bum (which was also fine by me--less movement from him=more energy for me). But then he had to go and get all move-y! ;) It's pretty funny. He never does anything normal, this one...he decided the best way to crawl is to drag one leg and move with the other one. Whatever works, dude.
{Crawling towards his favorite thing--DUNNY'S!}
{4} He found his first "favorite toy"--his Dad's Dunny's. Now, if you don't know what a Dunny is, you are probably in the majority (i.e. me - before I knew of them). If you are so inclined, you can read the definition of Dunny's. Needless to say, my hubby LOVES collecting these things. At first, it was just a fun extra little thing to get my hub to make him happy. It has NOW become quite the funny obsession. But they are not to be played with (they lose their value?).
Don't be mad babe, you know I jest :) Haha!
Alas, D just LOVES them! He wants to pull them all off of our bookcase and eat them and slobber on them and throw them across the room (can you blame him-they are perfect baby chew toys)? What's a Mom to do? :)
{5} He had his first FULL-BLOWN tantrum. I mean he's cried (obvi), and screamed (duh)...but this was different. I wouldn't let him suck on the Vicks Vapor Rub jar and he FULL-ON had a meltdown for 30 minutes. I was literally pulling out my hair. Oh well--it had to happen sometime, eh?
For the most part (save for a tantrum, being hungry or being sick)...he is ONE HAPPY BOY.
I just love him oodles of noodles. Yup.
Oh ya..and some of you asked me if I look/get "ready" all the time. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?
No. No. No. 70% of the time..this is how I look. Enjoy.
Linking up with my friend, Andi, from The Hollie Rogue for her MOMMY MOMENTS CHALLENGE.
You should too!! You can enter your photos of your kiddos & WIN PRIZES, people!

P.S. I am talking about MY FAVORITE SONG over at Renee's blog, THIS WON'T HURT A BIT, for her MUSIC FILES series! Head over there and ch-ch-check it out!
Oh poor guy! I am not a mommy yet but I do have younger sisters and used to babysit a lot. So make sure he gets his liquids and try to flush his nose with a saltwater spray to get the yucky stuff out!
ReplyDeleteHe´s precious and you´re a superhero Jenna! Get well soon Baby D! xo
Aww I hate when the babies are sick :( its hard. My daughter is 2 and not only is she ALWAYS into my hair products, but now she can unscrew lids to things, so lotion gets dumped on the floor, water bottles get emptied out all over the place... I think you get it lol. He's adorable!
ReplyDeleteMy nephew crawls like that! It cracks me up. Hope D feels better soon.
ReplyDeletethis was so funny to read. i mean, not the bit about the tantrum because those are never fun.
ReplyDeletebut i can't believe how happy he looks up in that picture with a cold! seriously a happy baby.
and that crawl is pretty much perfection :)
Such a trooper! Hope he gets better soon!
ReplyDeletePoor little guy. I remember getting red 'mustaches' on my upper lip when I had colds, from always wiping my snot on something, instead of blowing it. I guess its good that he's staying fairly cheerful though :)
ReplyDeleteHe's still so stinking adorable even when he's sickly! I hope he feels better soon!
ReplyDeleteCharlie started crawling at 9 months too!! How exciting. I hope he feels better soon. A sick baby is no fun :(
ReplyDeleteoh poor sick baby! My little man is sick now too, but it's his second time with this awful cold. It's hard seeing them looking so pitiful. Hope he gets better soon!
ReplyDeleteI love his crawl too! Sooo cute! (Cruz is not even attempting to crawl yet, and he's 9 months too... the upside of that is that it's less work for me right now, haha ;)
And love your honesty about how you ususally look.. that's so me too. I feel so accomplished if I acually get ready for the day!
Great great post, girl!! xoxo
Your photos at the end made me laugh--you look amazing!
ReplyDeleteAnd his first tantrum--he really is growing up :)
He was sick and still as smiley as ever!
ReplyDeleteKallie was always so happy when she was sick too. Love it!
ReplyDeleteOk, ready: Little noses has a saline spray that you can spray right up his little nose, then you can either suction it out or just let it run. A humidifier at night will help him sleep better. Baby vicks on his chest and back and vapor baths will also help clear his sinuses. If he starts to get fussy, then the cold may have entered into his head and is causing discomfort (ei. headache or soreness in the sinus areas) a little Tylenol or motrin will do the trick there. These are most helpful at night so that he can sleep. That is another important thing, sleep. The better/more sleep he gets the quicker his little body can heal. And one more thing, pedialite. They have pops (otter pop style) or jugs of juice. Packed with electrolytes and keeps them hydrated. When Kallie was that little I halved the juice with water cause it is pretty strong. Hyland's homeopathic brand has little dissolvable C-Plus Cold Tablets. Anything to boost his vitamin C intake is good as well as zinc and echinacea (all immune system boosters). You can find a lot of this stuff at Smiths, but Harmon's has a great selection of homeopathic stuff and pedialite is usually by the formula. Hope that helps.
ps. you're gorgeous!!
p.p.s. I hope he feels better!!!
ReplyDeleteMy little gal is 9 months old and she just started crawling this past week too! Although she army crawls on her elbows, it's cute. Hope your little guy starts to feel better soon! And your 70% of the time "not ready" look still looks great :)
ReplyDeleteI've decided that D will always look cute no matter how hard he cries or how much mischief he gets into. I can only imagine how hard it will be for you to discipline him when necessary as he gets older!
ReplyDeleteaww poor guy. well i guess the upside is that even tho he is sick he looks freaking adorable!
ReplyDeleteFun firsts! Except the sick one, that's no fun! I hope he feels better soon!
ReplyDeletehaha. i love his crawling method.. and the "whatever works, dude" too funny...
ReplyDeleteYour son is so cute! That's a lot in on week - a cold and crawling! That's pretty great that he's never been sick like that before, way to go!
ReplyDeleteLiam does the same thing in the bathroom! I never can get upset... it's just too funny :) And girl, you still look awesome! I love the way you did your hair in that pic!
ReplyDeleteAww sick babies makes me sad, he is still adorable though, I love his crawling, way to do things different D! You still look like a hot mama!
ReplyDeleteI hope y'all get to feeling better, and you still look adorable (even if you're allegedly "not ready").

Aww, such a bummer that your little guy is sick! I hope he gets better soon!! That's so funny how he started crawling! Haha! Just wait till he gets the other leg in on that action! :)
ReplyDeleteSounds like he's growing up fast! Aside from the cold and the tantrum, I'm glad he's a sweet, happy, healthy baby!
ReplyDeleteAwe, hope he is feeling much better now!

Our little monkey, who is almost 9 months, started crawling the past two weeks, and crawls the same way! We call it "crawl-walking"!
