I was reading back through my blog posts recently, and something felt off.
I don't know what it is...but I just haven't felt like this blog belongs to me anymore.
I have felt like, lately, I am blogging JUST to blog.
Because I feel like I "have to" or "need to" or "should."
I have let everything that I'm "supposed" to do take over what I actually WANT to do.
Which is blog about the things I love.
I don't know how I let it get this far, honestly.
I think I just got caught up in the madness, and I definitely lost a little of who I was.
Beauty, Makeup, Fashion, Life, Color, Inspiration....
THOSE are the things I love talking about.
So from now on, you should be seeing a lot more of ME, frankly.
In my writing & in what I'm talking about.
{And today, in my latest obsession, these headscarves from Three Bird Nest}
Whether you like it or not, I'm going back to my roots.
Talking about what I WANT TO talk about.
This blog is supposed to be my creative outlet...my breaktime during naptime...
and I was beginning to forget that.
That overwhelming feeling that I just "need to put up a post quick," etc... has got to end TODAY.

It really is high-time I stop taking myself so seriously!!
On a side note, YES I know it's Summer and my legs are as white as my fence,
but I'm a ginger, remember?
Also, my husband thought I looked like a Gypsy in the headscarf, but I DON'T CARE--I love it.
Sometimes you just gotta do what you WANT TO. ;)
Sometimes you just gotta do what you WANT TO. ;)
That scarf is so cute. I'm super white too. Rock it out. I think it's fantastic that you're getting back to your passion with blogging. To be honest, those posts are the best. As a reader, I can definitely tell when a post feels obligatory.
ReplyDeleteI hear ya. I guess we all have posts we feel that they don´t really represent ourselves. I started my blog as kind of an public diary and then it evolved to be more like a lifestyle blog. I love to share pics and bits of my life and I definitely don´t feel as happy about a few posts as I used to feel. Can´t wait to get more Jenna-ness :)
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate girl, this post is a great reminder that blogging is supposed to be FUN! :) Also, you are a doll, I love that outfit! And the headscarf is so darling...seriously, I love this whole look! xoxo
ReplyDeleteLOVE your headwrap!! heehee! YES!sometimes its hard to remember this is all for fun!
ReplyDeleteThat headscarf is so unusual. In some of the shots it is obviously floral, in others it looks as though it's covered in sequins!

ps My legs are just as white even though I'm not Ginger. I am from the North of England though. Enough said!
I've been feeling the same way. I just want to write! And I love the scarf. I'm a scarf junky.
ReplyDeleteHusbands can be too honest at times can't they? Just tell us we look pretty. That's all we need to hear. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with you. I was feeling like that the last few weeks, only just starting feel like getting back into it again.
ReplyDeleteSometimes this big world of blogging can do that to you. And it's funny because I feel like nobody out there puts that pressure on us, we just somehow end up doing it to ourselves.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's important to reflect on what you're doing and say "Wait... is this really what I want? Where I wanted to be?"
I'm so excited to read your future posts! YOU shine through in whatever you're writing about so I can only imagine the awesomeness that we'll see when you get back to what you really love.
xo
I love the headscarf especially with the braid. very cute
ReplyDeleteGreat reminder, this is all supposed to be for fun and should not feel like someone is putting pressure on us.
ReplyDeleteI, for one, love the head scarf!
Oh yeah. Totally with you. I know exactly how you feel. Love this outfit on you, lady!
ReplyDeleteyayy!! i love me some jenna & i'm looking forward to getting all of you back! .. not in a creepy way. haha .. i'm SO with you :) blogging is totally supposed to be for YOU & what you want to write about - not about what you think others want to read or doing things because you have to - otherwise what's the point? if it becomes another J-O-B then it loses all the F-U-N!
ReplyDeleteoh & by the way you are adorable! & my legs are probably whiter & i'm not a ginger .. soooo - Go Team Blindingly White Legs!

I love this post! I feel the same way lately. I've been backing off a lot, because I feel like I lost my voice a little bit. Oh, and I've been totally envious of your headscarves since you posted a picture wearing one on instagram :)
ReplyDeleteI loved this post! Even though my blog is a baby I let it get out of my hands. I no longer feel like I have to post every day. Especially when I don't feel like it! I can't wait to see what you have in store for all of us readers.
