Makeup Must-Haves {THE SERIES}

You have NO IDEA how excited I am about all the response I've gotten to this little series
(it's a three exclamation sentence for sure)!!!

I just threw it out there, asking who wanted to be a part of this "Makeup Must-Haves Series" and hoping one or two people might say YES. Little did I know how many awesome girls would reply saying they wanted to be part of it! EEEEEK! You know how makeup/beauty products make my heart so happy - well y'all just made it even happier! So thanks!

Steph did such a great job last week (I loved her choices)...and this week...
my adorable friend Carly, from Texas Love Birds, is up!
I just love this girl (we have a LOT in common)!!

Take it away Carly loo!

Hi y'all! I'm Carly and I blog over at Texas Lovebirds. I'm a 7th grade Language Arts teacher turned SAHM, who is way too sarcastic for her own good. I write about my life as a wife, a new mom, and all of the craziness that comes along with that.

I'm so happy to be here sharing my makeup must-haves, but must warn you that you won't see anything fancy or ground breaking from me. Sure, I try makeup trends (I so can't pull off red lipstick) just like anyone else, but I always end up sticking to my tried and true natural pallet. It's easy and works in my every day life as a momma.

1. Almay Clear Complexion Foundation: I have sensitive skin that breaks out very easily. This foundation has acne fighting medicine in it to help breakouts from forming, it also offers great coverage without being too heavy. (Find it here.)

2. Covergirl Lash Blast Volume: This is a tried and true of mine. I experiment with mascaras a lot, but I always come back to this one. It gives me the volume without getting too clumpy. (Find it here.)

3. e.l.f. Mineral Infused Face Primer: I just recently started using primer after the recommendation from one of Jenna's Beauty Q&A posts (Thanks, girl!). I found this one at Target and went with it because it's very affordable. I love it and don't know why I didn't start using face primer sooner. (Find it here.)

4. Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush: I switched to cream blush a few months ago and I really love it's staying power as opposed to powder blush. I also dab it on my lips for a little color. (Find it here.) Jenna's Note: I love this Blush, too - its so fun to play in - it has that cool texture of memory foam! :)

5. Physician's Formula Shimmer Strips: I use this to add a little contour under my cheeks, but I mainly use it as eye shadow. It's a natural color with a little shimmer. (Find it here.)

You'll notice almost all of my products are available at any drugstore or grocery store (the primer and shimmer strips can usually be found at Target). This is important to me because I want to be able to run and get an item once it runs out. I don't want to have to go to the mall or order specialty products online. No offense to people that own those types of makeup, I do own them in "special" items, but I want my must-haves to be easy to find.

Like I said, nothing fancy but all of the essentials for a busy mom and wife like me!

Big thank you to Jenna for having me, and if you decide to stop by my blog, leave a comment and let me know you've stopped by after reading this post. Happy Monday!

Thanks Carly!! I loved all of her products...now off to the grocery store to buy them! ;)

  1. I don't think I have tried that mascara yet. I'll definitely give it go when I get to the store again.

  2. Ooo I don't have a foundation I'm loyal to and that one sounds great! I'll have to try it out!

  3. Oh! So happy to see an affordable primer recommendation. I've tried a few, but haven't had any luck finding one that doesn't freak my skin out. Glad to have another one to try! I always like the way it looks, but can't keep using it, so I'm determined!

  4. I need to try that primer! I've tried just about every other elf product (as evidence shows on my blog today, ha) but not that one yet. It's definitely next on the list!

  5. How do you apply the blush? I use this brand but I have been using a blush brush and the hair fibers stick in the blush. Dumb question?
